YMCA Livestrong 12 Week Program
Livestrong at the YMCA is a 12 week program aimed towards cancer survivors in our community. The goal is to aid survivors on their journey to recovery through physical activity and emotional/mental support. Participants do not need to be a member of the Y to take part because they receive a membership for the duration of the program. The instructors role is to educate participants on cardio and strength training equipment, along with exposing them to other resources the Y has to offer such as group exercise classes, resistance training, aquatics, active trax, and/or anything that seems fit for their specific group. We can also bring in community members for lectures such as a nutritionist that could benefit the group.
Groups consist of 8-12 participants. This program is completely FREE and funded by gracious donations from the community. Survivors must receive a medical clearance from their oncologist or general physician before participating.
The YMCA runs 3 sessions a year; Spring (January), Summer (May) and Fall (September). If interested, please contact:
